Abstract: From Introduction: The Asian Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (originally known as the Regional Centre for the Training of Educational Planners, Administrators and Supervisors in Asia) was set up in February, 1962 under an agreement between Unesco and Government of India in pursuance of a resolution passed at the eleventh session of the General Conference of Unesco to help the Member-States in the Asian Region in preparing the key personnel for implementing the Karachi Plan which envisaged the provision of compulsory primary education of at least 7 years’ duration by 1980. The area of service of the Institute includes: Afghanistan, Burma, Ceylon, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Khmer Republic, Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Republic of Viet-Nam.
