Abstract

From Preface: The present Statistical Hand Book is the mini version of the prestigious annual publication, STATE STATISTlCAL ABSTRACT— 1989 of the Economic and Statistical Organisation, Punjab and is 20th in the series of such publications. The Statistical Hand Book contains information pertaining to the important aspects of the State’s economy. The information has been systematically presented along with suitable graphs and charts. To enhance the utility of this booklet, derivatives have also been given wherever possible. I hope that the present edition of the State Statistical Hand Book will be helpful to Administrators, Researchers, Planners, Scholars and all those who are interested in assessing the socio-economic progress of the Punjab State.
