Abstract

From Introduction: The National Council for Women’s Education at its meeting held in April, 1963 endorsed the suggestion made by the Union Education Minister in his inaugural address that a small Committee be appointed to look into the causes for lack of public support, particularly in rural areas, for girls’ education and to enlist public cooperation. This suggestion was made in view of the serious short-falls in the enrolment of girls. The Committee was to suggest, therefore, ways and means of achieving substantial progress in this field.
