Abstract

From Foreword: The Statistical Abstract is a major publication of the Economic and Statistical Organisation, Punjab and is published every year regularly. It highlights the achievements made In various socio-economic fields by presenting comparable series of statistical data at one place. Besides covering a wide range of economic activities in the state, this volume also depicts data on selected items In respect of other states of India. The Abstract goes a long way in equipping the reader with the up-to-date information on developments taking place In various socioeconomic spheres. I am confident that Hon’ble Members of the Vidhan Sabha, the administrators and all those who are engaged In study and analysis of socioeconomlc problems of Punjab State will find the publication useful.
