Abstract

This Economic Survey, 1997-i8 presents In brief a status report on the State s economy in terms of selected macro-economic indicators. The report also seeks to briefly outline the plans and programmes which have been undertaken to develop a relatively under developed economy caracterised by high incidence of poverty and unemployment, low per-capita income, low capital formation, inadequate exploitation of natural resources and inadequate development of socio-economic infrastructure.
