Abstract: From Preface: Inspite of the implementation of various programmes for the benefit of Scheduled Tribe people in the State, it seems that these people are not able to avail of the opportunities put forth to them in view of their cultural, social and economic backwardness. This paper attempts to highlighten the manpower situation of the girijans in the State. Sri P. C. Jain, Research Officer in the manpower division of this department has attempted to give a clear picture of the above aspects of tribal people. It is hoped that this report will be of much use for taking proper policy decisions for the welfare of the ‘girijans’ in the State.
