From Operational Features: These courses are sanctioned on a selective basis. The proposals of the Universities are considered by the Expert Committees in the UGC. The Expert Committees try to ensure that the sanctioned courses are fairly distributed across the country and that the university seeking a particular course is suitable in terms of availability of infrastructure and standards of education for such advanced courses. Preference is given to those proposals which do not seek assistance for construction of buildings.en_US
