Abstract

From Preface: This present issue of “Statistics for Planning” - 1980 is a revised and updated edition of the earlier publication on the same title published in 1977. It presents data relating to all the vital sectors of the economy of the state. The primary data collected by the Bureau covers a wide range of activity of the State. Besides, secondary data are also presented in this document which are drawn from the most authoritative sources. The theme covers the entire spectrum of the economy. There are 18 chapters covering in detail facts pertaining to the major sectors like population, manpower, industries, labour and wages, housing, income etc. We have also incorporated in the volume the results of many adhoc surveys and census studies conducted by this Bureau. Every effort has been made to collect the latest available statistics for each one of the tables in this document. It is prepared in the publication and co-ordination division of the Bureau. It is expected that the material presented in this document will be of immense use to planners and those interested in the problems of the State’s economy.
