Abstract: From Foreword: Children upto 14 years of age constitute nearly 40 per cent of India’s population, in Karnataka there were 14.6 million children in 1961, and this number should be around 16 million now. Even children upto 4 years of age are expected to be around 5.5 million accounting for about 12 percent of the State’s population. Inspite of several programmes launched by Government to improve the status of children, there are still many who are poor, who are mal-nourished, who are weak and who are destitute. This Project Report has analysed the situation of the child in Karnataka and has thrown light on the impact of various schemes under implementation.
