Abstract: From Preface: This volume on District-wise Educational Statistics for the State of Meghalaya, is the fifth in the series of such volumes which will be brought out for all the states and Union Territories, The main aim is to highlight the inter-district variations in a State by giving educational data at district level with the help of some important indices such as enrolment ratio, percentages of trained teachers, per capita expenditure, teacher pupil ratio etc. In order to ascertain whether the educational imbalances have widened or narrowed down with time, the data for the year 1976-77 has been analysed and compared with that for the year 1970-71.
