Abstract: From Introduction: The Sixth Five Year Plan of India as finally approved by the National Development Council in February 1981 envisages a total investment outlay of Rs. 1,58,710 crores during the period 1980-85 at 1979-80 level of prices. Of this, Rs. 84,000 crores (53 per cent) is estimated to be in the public sector and the balance of Rs. 74,710 crores (47 per cent) in the private sector. Including a current development outlay of Rs. 13,500 crores in the public sector, the aggregate public sector outlay on the Sixth Plan would amount to Rs. 97,500 crores.
