Abstract

From Preface: ’’Education in India" is an annual Publication of the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The publication is brought out in three volumes. Volume I (S) containing numerical data on School Education, Volume II (S) financial data on School Education, St Volume III Examination Results of matriculation and higher levels. The present publication Vol.I(S) relates to the year 1991-92 and contains state-wise statistics on School Education on enrolement, institutions, teachers and drop-out rates, etc. This publication is divided into two parts. Part-I contains an abstract and a general survey of the developments in the field education during the year 1991-92. Part-II comprises state-wise statistical tables based on the information collected from the States and Uni’on Territories through ES-I(S) forms. Despite repeated reminders no data has been received from Andhra Pradesh, Orissa & West Bengal for the fourth consecutive year in a row.
