Abstract: From Foreword: The Directorate of Economics & Statistics prepared two ready recokner type brochures entitled “Indicators of Economic Development” for the State and the “Indicators of Regional Development” giving data at district level. These publications reflecting data upto 1982-83 are of immense help to all those engaged in planning as also in assessing the progress made under the plan from time to time both a t micro and macro level. The indicators of regional development, which rank districts by the level of achievement under each indicator, suggest to the district officers whether their district is improving or losing its rank from year to year. I am happy the brochures are being made regular annual publications of the Directorate and the 1983-84 issue is being brought out now.
