Abstract

From Preface: This publication, containing the proposals for the Eighth Five Year Plan 1990- 95 and the proposals included in the Annual Plan 1991-92, has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines of the Planning Commission communicated under letter No:PC/(P)1/8/1/90 of the 5th June 1990. The proposals for the Eighth. Five Year Plan have emerged after detailed discussion within the sectoral departments in meetings of Steering Groups and Working Groups. These proposals, prepared on the basis of the reports of these Steering Groups, have been discussed in a series of official level meetings under the Chairmanship of the Chief of Secretary. These proposals reflect the priorities indicated in the Approach Paper approved by the National Development Council in June,1990.
