Abstract

From Preface: The publication “Statistical Abstract of Gujarat State-1998” attempts to present statistical data, to the extent possible, in the formats as recommended by the Working Group appointed by the Central Statistical Organisation, Government of India. The publication endeavours to give detailed statistics depicting Social and Economic trends and pattern in the state since 1960-6L The population tables cover the data as made available by the 1991 census. The publication is divided in three parts. Part-I provides data on Social Statistics, Part-II presents statistics pertaining to State and District Economy and Part III covers statistics on miscellaneous aspects such as information on Joint Stock Companies, Statistics relating to pubic sector undertaking. Public Administration etc. The data are presented in the form of time series in each table and for the terminal year they are given by districts.
