Abstract: From Introduction: Higher education in Madhya Pradesh is under great strain on account of rapid expansion and paucity of resources to fulfil the minimum requirements. In fact the large area Of the State and varied density of population due to fast rate of industrialisation, it is very difficult to satisfy ell sections of society. Besides more than one third of the population consists of backward and tribal people. Thus every plan of education must bear these factors in mind before formulating any scheme. Further there has been a steep rise of student population at the College level when nearly 1,30,000 students passed their Higher Secondary Education in 1984. At least sixty percent of this population aspires to enter the portals of Higher education in some form.
