From Foreword: Authentic data compilation is the very basis of development and Administration. This hand book for 1980-81 prepared by the Statistical Staff of this District is indeed a commendable effort on their part. Its preparation has been the result of long and streneous foot-marches in interior places, re-checking and reliable information. Dibang Valley District is unique in many ways as the ensuing pages will reveal. The District is maintained by a variety of means such as, air-droppings, ferry crossings and surface communication. With its large variety of flora and fauna alongwith its scenic ruggedness, the district paints a wonderful picture in this Union Territory of Arunachal Pradesh. This hand book, by means of its statistical data aim to capture its details which provide adequate guidance both to the reader as well as for official documentation.
