Education Statistics Assam 1979-80

Abstract

From Foreword: An attempt has been made in this publication to provide in a compact form operational statistics relating to the educational system collected by the Directorate of Public Instruction from educational institutions as also other important statistics relating to education collected from diverse sources. Efforts have been made, with the help of some selected indicators, to bring to focus the current level as well as inter-district disparity in the development of education in Assam, Besides, in order to facilitate inter State comparison a table showing selected indicators on education in different States has also been incorporated, The statistics presented here cover only recognised institutions. Further it has not been possible to cover statistics relating to non-formal education in this publication.
