Goa, Daman and Diu Special Component Plan 1983-84 For Scheduled Castes

Abstract

From Prologue: One of the Directive Principles of State Policy in the constitution enjoins that the ‘'State will promote with special care the educational and economic intercastes of weaker sections of the people, and in particular, of the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and shall protect them from social injustice and all forms of exploitation". This directive has been reflected in the Five Year Plans which have sought to raise the socio-economic levels of all the people including scheduled castes/ scheduled tribes and other weaker sections. However,three decades of development have not had the desired impact on these socially, economically and educationally handicapped groups.
