Assessment of Technical and Infra-structural Capacities of District Institutes of Education and Training Goa State Report (1999-2000)

Abstract

From Introduction: Universalisation of primary education and eradication of adult illiteracy have been two major goals of education since Independence. Quantitative growth of primary education system in terms of student enrolment, number of teachers, number of schools is enormous. Qualitative improvement in the primary education sector to match the quantitative growth requires strong component of teacher training. The National Policy on Education (1986) envisaged this requirement of sustainable programme of teacher training on a continuous basis both for in-service and pre-service training of teachers. In order to fulfil this need establishment of a District Institute of Education and Training in each district was incorporated.
