Abstract: From Preface: It gives me great pleasure to present the nineteenth Annual Report of Goa University for the academic year 2003-2004. The annual report is presented in seven parts, Part 1 - University authorities and bodies, Part 2 - University Departments, Centres and Programmes, Part 3 - Seminars/ Conferences/ Workshops and Research publications. Part 4 - General Administration, Part 5 -Affiliated Colleges, Part 6 - Recognised Institutions and Part 7 - Financial Statement. Appendix contains information on admissions at UG and PG courses for the year 2004-05. This report has been compiled by the University based on the information provided by the various administrative sections, PG departments / centers/ affiliated colleges and recognized institutions. Goa University has completed nineteen years since its establishment on 30th June 1985. It is an affiliating University with post graduate teaching and research carried out on the beautiful campus, spread over 175 hectres. There are now 23 teaching departments, 2 UGC centres, an academic staff college for in service training of teachers, 45 affiliated colleges inclusive of professional and nonprofessional colleges and 7 recognised institutions conducting research. The University was accredited in 2001 by NAAC with a 4 star rating on a 5 point scale.
