Abstract: | From Introduction: Women’s education is a priority sector in the government’s policy planning and special initiatives have been taken to enable women to pursue higher education. The National Policy on Education 1986 states that education will be used as an agent of basic change in the status of women in society. Education for women is a vital component of the overall strategy of securing equity and social justice for women. Special support services are needed to remove the obstacles inhibiting the access of women to higher education. Lack of adequate infrastructure required to meet the special needs of women students and teachers, including non-teaching staff, is one of the major factors responsible for obstructing the greater participation of women in higher education. |
