Abstract

From Preface: “Education in India (School Financial Data)” is an annual publication of the Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The present publication relates to school education for the year 1996-97 and contains State-wise statistics on income by source and expenditure by item etc. in respect of school education. This publication is divided into two parts. Part -! contains a profile and All India financial statistical tables of school education during the year 1996-97. It also contains time series data on income, expenditure (recurring & non-recurring) and per student expenditure by type of institutions, while Part II consists of State-wise statistical tables. The data presented in this publication is based on the information collected from the States and Union Territories through ES-II (S) forms. We are hopeful that this publication would provide useful information to educational planners and policy-makers, both at the national and state levels as well as to those engaged in research and development in the field of education.
