Abstract

From Introduction: On the North East of Andhra Pradesh lies the District of East Godavari between 160-30 and 180-20 of the Northern Latitude and 810-30 and 820-36 of the Eastern Longitude, It is bounded on the North by Visakhapatnam District and the State of Orissa and on the East by Bay of Bengal on the South and on the West by West Godavari and Khammam Districts. It can be broadly classified into three natural Zones the Delta Upland and Agency tracts. It has an area of 10,807 Sq.Kms. The Dalta Portion comprises of Mummidivaram, Amalapuram, Razole and Kothapeta erstwhile taluks and Major portion of Alamuru, Ramachandrapuram and Kakinada erswhile taluk and Minor portion of Rajahmundry. The upland portion comprises of Feddapuram, Pithapuram, Tuni and Prathipadu erstwhile taluks and a large portion of Rajahmundry erstwhile taluks and small portion of Kakinada, Alamuru and Ramachandrapuram erstwhile taluks while the agency area comprises of hilly tracts of Yellavaram and Rampachodavaram erstwhile taluks.
