Education for All: The Andhra Pradesh Scene

Abstract

From Foreword: During the Summit of nine high population countries held in December, 1993 at New Delhi, Government of India had brought out a three-volume set on EDUCATION FOR ALL - THE INDIAN SCENE. This had received considerable acclaim, since it details the status of Education in India, its growth and problems as well as various strategies being adopted to achieve the task of Education For All. We, in Andhra Pradesh, have been trying to bring out a similar volume. This volume, EDUCATION FOR ALL - THE A.P. SCENE, is but a first step in this direction. It presents the status of Education in Andhra Pradesh and its relative position in India. It also aims to present the inter-district variation. An attempt has been made to give the data both in statistical as well as graphic form. It is hoped that this volume will be of use to policy makers, administrators as well as researchers. It is requested that comments and further advice may kindly be communicated to Sri V.Krishnamacharyulu, Director, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Fateh Maidan Road, Hyderabad - 500 001. This attempt should indeed be considered only as a draft as it is proposed to improve this volume further. The next version is expected to contain the details about the various programmes as also the innovations in Education both official as well as the contributions made by the Non- Government Organisations. To this end, it is requested that details of such efforts and contributions be sent immediately to the Director, SCERT at the above address.
