Abstract

This document presents a kaleidoscope of some of the innovative and non-traditional approaches in education that are being tried out in India today. They provide a glimpse of the range and diversity of the Indian experience and the complexities involved in ensuring Education for All. These initiatives are the responses of the Central and State Governments, educational institutions and voluntary organisations to varying hopes, aspirations and expectations, rooted in different social, cultural and other region-specific traits. They also reflect the sincerity and commitment to achieve the EFA goals by the turn of the century.
