The Indraprastha Vishwavidaylaya Act, 1998 (Act No. 9 of 1998)

Abstract

An Act to establish and incorporate an affiliating and teaching University at Delhi to facilitate and promote studies, research and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with focus on professional education, for example engineering, technology, management studies, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, education, law, etc., and also to achieve excellence in these and connected fields and other matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. Notified vide notification No. F.18 (88)/92/C.B./EDN/852 dated 28.7.1998; as amended upto the Indraprastha Vishwavidyalaya {Amendment} Act, 1998 read with the Indraprastha Vishwavidyalaya (Second Amendment) Act, 1999. The name of the University was changed from “The Indraprastha Vishwavidyalaya” to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University with effect from October 11, 1999.
