| Abstract: | From Foreword: The current issue of the “Statistical Hand Book, Assam, 1997” is the thirtieth in the series. In the issue we have endeavoured to present in a concise form the latest available basic Statistics pertaining to Socio-Economic trend in the State. In addition, for facilitating comparison with other States and the country as a whole, a few statistical tables have also been incorporated. All efforts have been made to present the latest available data covering upto 1996-97 in the hand book. However, in case of non-availability of such data in a few cases, last year published data have been repeated. |
