Abstract

From Preface: "Education in India" is an annual publication of the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. As per the revised pattern, it is now brought out in three volumes; VOl. 1(S) containing the numerical data on School Education; Vol.1(C) numerical data on Non-affiliated Institutions of Higher Education; Vol.II(S) containing financial data on School Education; Vol.11(C) the financial data on Non-affiliated Institutions of Higher Education; and Volume-III Examination Results of Matriculation and Senior Secondary Education. The present publication relates to the year 1991-92. This is the fifth publication under the revised pattern. It contains data on Non-Affiliated Institutions of Higher Education only. Data in respect of affiliated institutions in the field of Universities and Higher Education is to be compiled and printed by UGC w.e.f. 1987-88 and onwards. This publication is divided in two parts. Part-I contains an Abstract and All India Statistical Tables and Part-II comprises of Statewise Statistical Tables based on the information collected from the States and Union Territories through ES-I(C) forms. Data in respect of Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal has been repeated from 1987-88.
