| Abstract: | From Chpt. III Education Profile: East Khasi Hills district represents a mixture of two opposites. It has the highest rate of literacy among the seven districts at the same time it has back ward areas like Laitkroh which has a low literacy rate. In 1991 Census the total literacy rate was 64.57 and it rose to 76.1% in 2001. Shillong the District Headquarter as well the State Capital is the seat of academic excellence and can boast of many premier institutions. |
