dc.description.abstractFrom Introduction: Meghalaya came into existence first as an Autonomous State within the State of Assam on April 2, 1970 and attained full State-hood on January 21, 1972. At the time’ of its formation,, the State consisted of two hills districts, namely, the United Khasi and Jaintia Hills District and the Garo Hills District of the State of Assam. It has now five administrative districts, fifteen subdivisions and thirty Development Blocks.en_US
