Abstract

From Preface: The completion of the State’s Sixth Five-Year Plan is yet another significant landmark in our planning and development efforts with the State’s economy likely to achieve a rate of growth of more than 6 per cent as against Nation’s anticipated rate of growth of about 5-2 per cent. This is the highest rate of growth ever achieved by the State. The levels of production achieved in the agricultural and industrial sectors generally equalled or exceeded the targets. The positive responses of the economy to various developmental and administrative measures initiated during this period are indicative of the appropriateness of the planning strategies and the inherent endowments and potentials of the economy. Naturally the prospects for still better and higher attainments during the Seventh Five-Year Plan are bright and optimistic.
