Education in India 1972-73

Abstract

‘Education In India’ is being brought out annually by the Ministry of Education. This publication gives detailed State-wise statistics, besides giving a brief survey of educational activities in the country for the year under report. This publication in the series relates to the year 1972-73. To reduce the time-lag in the publication of educational statistics, it was decided, in consultation with the State Governments, to reduce the number of items on which the data is to be collected and published. Accordingly from 1971-72, a brief proforma was designed to enable quick collection of information on a few important items. This edition relating to 1972-73 is the second in these series. It is hoped that the publication would, be of use to educationists, planners and research scholars and would also serve as a, source of information on educational matters to all those interested.
