Abstract

The Commission was constituted under SRO - 325 dated 19-10-2009 and its secretariat established in October- November 2009. However the Commission effectively started working from March, 2011 with the appointment of State Chief Information Commissioner and eventually became fully functional with the appointment of two State Information Commissioners in the month of October & November 2011. Therefore this inaugural Annual Report for 2011-12 also covers the implementation of the Act in the State for the preceding two years, 2009-10 and 2010-11, to meet the requirement of the Act, in this regard. The report consists of 9 chapters devoted to constitution of the Commission, appointment of CIC and Information Commissioners, powers of the Commission, training of PIOs and awareness programmes held, implementation of Section 4 of the Act, Monitoring & Reporting of implementation of RTI Act , complaints and Appeals disposed of by the Commission , recommendations etc. The number of RTI requests mentioned in the report is based on the quarterly/annual progress reports furnished to the Commission by the Public Authorities.
