Abstract: Women’s Studies Centre in the University system have been functioning for the last two decades. They have succeeded in playing and interventionist role by initiating gender perspectives in several areas. The current guidelines have taken a broader view of the women’s studies constitutency by supporting University Women’s Studies Centres and facilitating them to network with other contitutents involved in similar work. To meet this end the new focus emphasises partnership and clustering. The thrust is to involve many more people and many more organisations in the network. The Approach Paper which forms Part-I of the guidelines clarifies the new objectives.
