dc.description.abstractThe National Policy on Education (1986) gave a new impetus to the vocational education program me at the +2 stage. In pursuance o f the Policy the entire national efforts w ere guided by a centrally sponsored scheme since 1987-88. The aim o f the Scheme of Vocationalization of Secondary Education w as to build up infrastructural facilities, develop management system , establish linkages and involve all the states and U Ts in the implementation of the programme during the Seventh Five Year Plan and attain a target of 10 percent diversion of students to vocational stream by 1990. The National Seminar on Vocationalization of Education was held during December 12-14, 1989 to assess how far the above objectives have been fulfilled.en_US
