The PRC makes recommendations that touch upon diverse aspects of working and service conditions of teachers and associated academic staff in universities and colleges. These are based on an objective assessment of the rather depressing Situation in many universities and colleges, in many parts of India, more markedly in rural against urban areas and in state against central universities. Teachers must get a better deal than what has been passed on to them, in the past two decades or so. Again, while it is doubtful if pay packets and other perquisites available to the young and talented job seekers in the private corporate sector can be offered for educational jobs, yet, the state and the society must assure such brilliant young men and women that a teaching career would not be 'that bad after all'. The PRC makes recommendations precisely in that vein.en_US
