This Synthesis Report of the tribal study brings to conclusion a fairly extensive effort undertaken by this department in August 1993 under the District Primary Education Programme. Of the seven studies planned under the DPEP, one was the TRIAL STUDY which was designed to access the availability of primary education in tribal areas in the DPEP States and to ascertain the community opinion about the kind of education that they desire. Since, the results were to be utilised for district level planning, the Study has been completed in a very short time. Inspite of this major constraint, it is remarkable that the study has been completed in all the seven States.en_US
