Abstract

This Policy Document has four parts. In the initial three parts the Chairman has drawn the background in detail, starting with a brief assessment of the COVID19 impact on the capitalist economy, a quick search for indications of an alternative economy in the wake of the pandemic health crisis, a passing remark on the feasibility of people’s economy in India, and a discussion of the distinct manifestations in Kerala. This is done with a view to understanding the trans-formative force of the pandemic. Speculative thoughts on the vicissitudes of the capitalist economy constitute the second part, which are indispensable for having at least a tenuous idea of the nature of the global economy that would decide the nature of higher education.
