Abstract: This report is the result of the study project entitled “Impact of the Tribal Sub-Plan Implementation in Improving the Socio-Economic Condition of the Tribal People with Special Focus on Reduction of Poverty Level covering the States of Assam and Tamil Nadu sponsored by the Planning Commission. Two Integrated Tribal Development Projects (ITDPs) from Assam and Tamil Nadu, were selected as sample units. The selected ITDPs in Assam are: Dhubri and Morigaon and Tamil Nadu: Kalrayan Hills in Salem district and Sitheri Hills in Dharmapuri District. The Tamil Nadu study also covered Primitive Tribal Groups of Panyians, Irulas and Kurumbas out of the six in the state. Full details of the sample units are described in Chapter IV of the report.
