| Abstract: | The Directorate of Adult Education was established in 1978-79 to implement Adult literacy Programme in the State. In 1988-89, the nomenclature was changed as Directorate of Mass Education. The Directorate implements Adult Literacy Programmers through Zilla Saaksharata Samithis/District, Taluk, Gram Panchayath Loka Shikshana Samities and Voluntary Organization. The Directorate provides the necessary guidance and undertakes state-wide monitoring of the programmes. Literacy Programmes implemented in the Directorate during the year 2012-13. |
