The study on "Demand and Supply of Teachers at School Stage - 1999-2009” was Sponsored by the Education Division of the Planning Commission. The availability of data has been a bottleneck. Inspite of constraints, the study team has managed to obtain as much data as was possible. The study concludes that imbalances exist between demand and supply of teachers in almost all States and that there are a large number of untrained teachers across the States.en_US
