Abstract: Higher Education during the four years of the Left Front Government has made significant progress. It has introduced certain basic changes in the structure and pattern of education and has brought about improvements in the standard of education. There is an earnest effort to tone up the administration of the colleges and universities and to stop indiscipline and disorder at all levels. I have the proud privilege to say that the academic atmosphere which deteriorated to a lamentable degree in the previous regime has been restored.
