Abstract

The district of West Dinajpur lies between 25°10’55'' an 26°35’15" north latitude and 87°48’37” and 89°0’30* longitude. It bounded on the north west by the district of Darjeeling, on the north and north-east by Dinajpur and Rangpur districts of Bangladesh, On the south and south east by Rajsahi and Bagura district of Bangladesh, on the south west by the district of Malda and on the west Purnea district of Bihar. The river Mahananda forms its northern boundary. The river also forms a portion of the boundary on the south-west between Malda and West Dinajpur.
