Abstract: This training manual has been prepared under this project for use in the training of supervisors and investigators who will collect data from around 120 schools in 3 districts in UTTAR PRADESH. The training will be conducted in Allahabad by the project staff over a period of ten days. Though the selected supervisors and researchers may have experience in data collection and supervision they will still need to be oriented to the specific needs and approach of the project. The training is also to be seen as an opportunity for bringing the teams together, for building up an atmosphere of team work and for upgradation of requisite skills. The training will therefore be conducted in a participatory manner, where there is a two way dialogue between the trainers and the trainees,
