Abstract: The. National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) document "Higher Secondary Education and its Vocationalisation" was presented in 1976. It provided a model conceptual framework for implementation. The programme for vocationalisation of higher secondary education was initiated in 1976. however, it was done in a very limited scale. It was implemented by 1966, in 10 States and 5 Union Territories. That year the national intake in the vocational stream was an order of 72,000. It was equivalent to approximately 2.5% of students population entering higher secondary state is covered by vocationalisation so far.
