Abstract

The University Grants Commission (UGC), an apex body of Higher Education, established under an Act of Parliament of India in 1956, is entrusted with the task of coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India. In discharging its multiple responsibilities, the Commission, from time to time compiles and disseminates information on various parameters pertaining to higher education. Periodically, it also brings out publications containing the statistical data on specific subjects. The present publication entitled "University Development in India" Basic Facts and Figures, Examination Results: 2007 (Annual & Supplementary) is yet another attempt in the series.
