| Abstract: | As a fitting tribute to the visions of such a great statesman, the Jawaharlal Nehru University was established in 1966 under the JNU Act, 1966 (53 of 1966); indeed it was a National Memorial to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. As a mark of further respect, the University was formally inaugurated by the late Sh. V. V. Giri, the then President of India, on the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 14 November 1969 which also coincided with the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi. |
