Abstract: The Expert Committee visited the Institute on 03rd & 04th September, 2008. Prior to the actual validation and assessment of the infrastructural and other facilities available with the Institute, Prof. A.M. Pathan, Chairman of the Committee and Dr. K.P. Singh, Coordinator of the visit briefed the members of the Expert Committee in a separate meeting about the proposal of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Bheemanthangal, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu received by the UGC for consideration for deemed university status under de-novo category. The Expert Committee was also briefed about various provisions of the UGC guidelines and exemptions for the de-novo Institutions in emerging areas with promise of excellence. Prof. A.M. Pathan then requested the members to visit the institute and to examine the infrastructural and other facilities available and give their observations/suggestions keeping in view the provisions in the UGC guidelines for de-novo institutions in the emerging area with promise of excellence.
